Barrie's House Update: January 2026

2025 was a year of huge change for Barrie's House and we're so thankful that we're continuing to serve our community! With the closing of Settlement, we became an independent non profit (501 C3). Generous donations allowed us to purchase a new home at the former Turk Lake Methodist Church. We operated at Settlement through June, moved in and set up through July and began operating in August upon receiving clearance from the Township. Many hours of volunteer time helped us turn a church into a food and clothing pantry!

We are going strong. Often serving 50+ households a week, 200+ a month. Numbers were particularly high when benefits were cut this fall. Our "regulars" and many new households have found us in our new location. Our Kid's Christmas continued to provide toys for the children in the families we serve. We continue to work with Feeding America and the Meijer Simply Give program to fill our shelves and freezers. One big change (and challenge) for us has been owning and maintaining a 50 year old building. So far, donations have allowed us to stay on top of everything but we depend on faithful donations to continue to do so.

We are incredibly thankful for and dependent upon the faithful volunteers that allow us to serve our community every Thursday. The faithful contributions from individuals, churches and organizations are the lifeblood of Barrie's House. Thank you for partnering with us in this incredible mission. God's Work, Our Hands!!
